So tired from camping. Don't want to do this blog, but have to.
Option #2: Evaluation Blog
Write a blog that uses the id, ego, ans superego to explain the behavior of a character in The Cat in the Hat. Your blog should include the following:
1. An argument that states whether the character is dominated by the id, ego, or superego
2. At least two examples of indirect characterization as support
3. An explanation of how each piece of support supports your main argument
In the book Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss, the cat is mostly dominated by the id. The definition of id by Sigmund Freud is Id- The id is the part of the personality that contains our primitive impulses-- such as thirst, anger, hunger-- and the desire for instant gratification or release. According to Freud, we are born with id. The id is an important part of our personality because as newborns, it allows us to get our basic needs met. Freud believed that the id is based on our pleasure principle. The id wants whatever feels good at the time, with no consideration for the other circumstances of the situation. The id is there, he tells the ego to base behavior on how the action will influence he self, specifically how it will bring the self pleasure. This definition really applies to the Cat. The Cat in the book had desire to have fun, made big ugly messes, and brought in Thing 1 and Thing 2, who caused more big mess in the house. the Cat is mostly dominated by the id but he also have a little of superego at the end of the book. He had a little superego at the end of the book because he knew that he caused a big mess and had to clean it up. And he did clean all the messes up before Sally and the Narrator's mother came back. At the beginning of the story, all the Cat wanted to do was have fun. He didn't really care about what was happening to the house. He told the kids about his games like, "UP, UP UP WITH FISH" and then brought in "WHAT'S IN A BOX" with Thing 1 and Thing 2 in it. ALl they did was cause more chaos in the house, which nobody cares about excepet the fish. But then a little till the end, the Narrator knew that what the Cat was doing was wrong and he tried to stop the Cat. The Cat then was confuse why the kids weren't having fun and why they tried to stop his game. He then leaves. But then came back to clean up his mess. The Cat cleaned up the mess before the mother comes home. When the mother comes home, she didn't even supect that anything happen in her house. All she said when she got in the house was "Did you have any fun? Tell me. What did you do?". That was all she said and Sally and Narrtaor didn't even tell their mother what had happen.

Persepolis Blog #2
Okay doing blogs are getting a little bit boring. I am getting king of bored of blogging. It is fun but I don't really want to do it anymore. But I have to do it for Erin. I'll like to dedicate this blog to Erin. This is for you, Erin!
So, now let's start BLOGGING!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First prompt is the one about why Satrapi wrote this kind of novel. I think this kind of genre is popular because children, teenagers, and adults like books that has picture and words. They like books that have words to go with the picture. I don't know if this is true but this is my theory on why people like reading this kind of books. I think Satrapi chose this format to write her story because I think she wants many different people to read her story and to know what she went through. The graphic pictures in the book show a detail picture of what Satrapi see and by seeing the detail picture we get to see what she saw and get a better idea of what she had went through. What a conventional memoir lacks is that it makes one have to visualize what is really going on in the story when maybe one is wrong. They can imagine only a little part of the story but if they have the graphic picture in front of them then it makes it much easier to understand the story and the meaning of it. I don't know if I'll call Persepolis a comic book because a comic book doesn't have as many pages as a graphic novel, which is what I call Persepolis, a graphic novel. Mostly all comics are fictional but graphical are non-fictional. If I had to place Persepolis in a bookstore I would place the book in the non-fictional books, but I'm not sure.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second prompt is the one about Persepolis being a memoir would it have been if Satrapi had written it as fictional. In my opinion, I think that her story as a memoir is more powerful than if she was to fictionalized the story. The story being a memoir makes it a very powerful and meaningful story. If she has fictionalize her story it wouldn't really be about her. It would be but it wouldn't be all true. It would be fictional. It would be way better if it is true and people and really relate to what Satrapi went through and what she has to do to get where she is now. The benefits of a memoir is that it tells the reader what the author really went through. The drawback of a memoir is that when you are writing the story you can forget what really happen or you get that memory mixed up with another memory. For example, if I was to write a memoir, I would have to think really, really, really, REALLY hard about my memories.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Third prompt is about how Persepolis is organize. Persepolis is structure as a graphic pictures together, which is like a comic but is not. The stories are put into panels. The pictures does not have color like other picture books. The pictures are black and white. I think it doesn't have color because of the very sad things that has to do with Satrapi. She emphasize sadness, worries, and sometimes happiness. Her drawings can be look at and you can tell the stories right from the drawings. How the drawings add to the narrative of the story is that the drawings helps the text. It makes it easier to understand. The text wouldn't make sense without the drawing and the drawing won't make sense without the text. They need each other to be understand. The texts and drawings, how Satrapi wrote it, makes it funny to the reader. The novel is an easy reading book.

Persepolis Blog # 1
Reading Persepolis was a lot of fun. The first time I have seen the Persepolis book was a very long time ago. I was like, "oh this book looks interesting". I only read the first couple of pages and was like, "I don't get this book". But reading it now I sort of get the book. The first time I read through the book, it was a lot of fun and interesting. I couldn't stop reading it. I even read the second Persepolis book. The second was a lot more detail than the first book. But I like the first book more. Now to the prompts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first prompt is how did the revolution exert power and influence over so many people, including many educated and middle class people like Satrapi's parents? Why did so many people leave after the revolution? Why do you think Marji's parent send her off to Austria while they stay in Tehran? Why don't they leave/ escape as well?
Well the revolution caused many people to not have the freedom they used to have. It caused the people to be afraid of the people who are in control. The people fear for their lives, their family and friends, and other people. Being educated and having money didn't really mean anything. It didn't; really help them live a happy life. Many people left after the revolution because they didn't know if another revolution was going to begin or not so they left. I think Marji's sent her to Austria because they didn't they want their daughter to have a happy life after all that has happen to them her parents want her to be a well educated woman. Marji's parents stayed back, I think is because they didn't want to leave behind all their life's memory and because of their friends and family that were still there in Tehran.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The second prompt is "Every situation has an opportunity for laughs." Give some examples of how the ordinary citizens of Iran enjoyed life despite the oppressive regime. What made you laugh? How does Satrapi add comic relief? How are these scenes relevant to the story as a whole? The people in Iran enjoys life by having secret parties. Having the parties helps them have their own way of freedom and relieving their stress of all the stress they get from the revolution. Some people like Marji tried to wear make up and wear sneakers to enjoy life, but was almost jailed. There were many things that I thought that was funny. There was the part were Marji's uncle told her the stories of when he was in jail. It was the part where he was saying that his girlfriend came to visit him in jail and wanted to have a child with him in the prison. I thought this was funny because that is just weird having a child in a prison cell. I also thought the part when Marji's mother's friend came and stay with them because of the bombing. Her mother's friend had two son and when they were about to go to bed that were talking about Star Wars and who they like. Marji said that she liked Princess Leia and one of the boy said that she is ugly. It was so funny. I think she add comic relief to show that the book can be funny and it doesn't have to be all about the war and the killings.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The third prompt is "In spite of everything, kids were trying to look hip, even under risk of arrest." How did they do this? What do you think you would have done had you been as a teen? In what ways is Satrapi just a normal kid? They would have different style of haircuts, cut school, listen to the different kinds of music that are forbidden and wear make-up. I think that is I was to be in that kind of environment I would do things that are "hip" but I would never put myself in danger like what Marji and her friends did. When I was a teen or still is, I did some really stupid things that I still don't know why I did it. I would do things as cheat on test and do other bad things. First you have to define normal. One can't really define the word normal and compare the word to someone. But just to say, ways that Satrapi is just a normal kid because of the things she did to have fun and want to do. It is also the way she act to get what she want.

FEED FINAL PROJECT!
REFLECTION---REFLECTION---REFLECTION---REFECTION
My feed contains a lot of things. What my feed contains is mostly the things that I like to eat, wear, use or the things I believe in. Some of things I have in my feed is the things that most Americans want or have. It is also the things that I want. I have cell phones, make-ups, candies, i-pod and many other things. My feed will show me the things that I want to buy. I think it shows the many things I want. My feed will store all the memories that I can't even remember now. It will be like my personal planner that I have in my feed. It tell me about when I have a game for volleybal or badminton or when I have a certain homework that is due. It'll be super cool to have that. How this define American culture and identity is that Americans are people who consume a lot of things that are unnecessary and that because of the things that they use or consume is making the world we live in a bad place. For example, our world ozone layer is getting destroy every day because of the thing you and I use. How this identity us American is that we would like to save our beloved planet but only by doing little it is not helping. It is helping only a little but not a lot because not everyone is participating in the green world that we want the USA to be. The social implications of technology use can be good and bad. The good is that it is a faster way of connection to any one from any where in the world. The bad is that it is an easier, faster connection to meet many different dangerous people. There are many reasons why the implications of technology is good and bad. The question, is it okay to resist?, is a question that, many people can resist and many can not. It is okay to resist. Media and consumerism, reliance on technology. Technology is used by many people in the world. It is use for many things like the advertising of the many products that people consume. People use it so much that many people will see the many things that the producer want the consumer to see, so the consumer can see it and want to buy it. I think that popular culture personally does affect me. Most people would say that it doesn't but it does. Even a little part of the culture affects them. I think it can both mold us and us them. I'm not how but I think that it does. I think that the impaction on me, is that it make me want the things they have because being from a middle class family, I won't have the money to get the things I want. But having the money and the power, they can get anything they want. Don't think that it really define me.
In the book FEED, if the people don't have the feed they can still live but they just won't have the advanges that other people who have the feed have. If the people don't have the feed, I don't think they can live in that kind of world. If they don't have the feed, they would be nake fun off like Violet's father when he didn't have the feed. I think Titus order all those pants because he was depressed about what was happening to Violet. That's what people do in reality. When people are stress or/and depress, they always shop, shop, shop, SHOP!!

CONSUMERISM!!!
consumerism- the consumption of goods and services
consumption- the act of consuming
Today our whole world is around the word consumerism. Everyone has their own way of consuming. It is all about NEEDS and WANTS. Some people might say that NEEDS and WANTS are the same thing, but I say that it is not. Need in my definition means that it is something that is necessary for one person to get for them to survive. Want in my definition means the things that one desire; the things they desire are the things they want.

http://www.grinningplanet.com/2005/05-31/environment-cartoon.htm
The picture above is of an overweight men trying to reach for a book on "How To Stop Over Comsuming". He can not even reach the book because of his fat stomach that is in the way. It is because of his over consuming that cause him to be soo fat.
Everyone is tricking everyone else into buying things they don't really need so they get a lot of money.
The media is putting out signs, ads, songs, and many other things to put their product out their in the world. This video from YOUTUBE.COM is a musical of consumerism. The guy is singing about "we the people" wanting things and it is a "wonderful life" were we live in because of all the FREE, 75% off, buy 2 get on for FREE things we can get.
All people want in this world is MONEY! MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!! Money can be a good thing and money can be a bad thing, but mostly money is good. Having MONEY means one has POWER. Money is EVERYTHING. IF one does not have money they can't really do anything in this kind of world. If one don't have money, one won't have food to eat, place to live, etc. All these are NEEDS. Needs for one to survive in this kind of world. Wants are things that they already have but because they have the money that they can have wants.

---------REFLECTION------------REFLECTION--------
The images I have put on my blog is of the many things we the people go for. The Free sign is of the sign most people look for when they go shopping. They are just waiting for someone to give them something for FREE or buying something and getting another thing for FREE! The guy jumping over a bag of money. What it is saying is that people are using money for things that are unnecessary. Who wouldn't jump for joy over a bag of money... I know I would, if I did get a bag of money. For the video and the picture of the man, I have already wrote what they were for. My message is that people are using too much money for things that they don't really NEED! They are using it just for they things that they think they need, which is WANT! The person who has influence me for not wasting a lot of money is my older sister. She has taught me many things about the world that I think I still need to know more about. She is a big waster when it comes to buying clothes, but is also saving it at the same time. It is so because she likes shopping at GOODWILL and like Thrift Stores. She doesn't waste as much money by going to those stores but she is sometimes buying things that are just WANTS then what she really NEEDS. My feelings on this is that I feel that she is doing a good part in the world by buy stuffs that are already been use and are reusing it. By doing this it helps our world be a better place to live because if we don't reuse things then they are out in to the landfills where they are kept there for hundreds and hundreds of years. I feel that she made me a more greener person by reusing and not wasting a lot of money on things that are unnecessary.

FEED--> Blog 2 Prompt
I wouldn't really know what my type is because I change and people change. So, you can't really know what one persons type is. If I was to get a "feed", the ads I would be getting would have to be mostly on candies because I really LOVE candies. The ads would be on Skittles, Hershey, Starbursts, Snickers, and many other kinds of candies. Chatting on the feed would be so much fun! If I had the feed, I would be chatting on it every single day. It would be way better than having a phone, cell phone, or the Internet. Chatting on the feed you wouldn't have to pay a lot of money for all those electronics. It would be a faster and easier way to contact people, if you are late to work you can just use your feed to tell your boss right away by just chatting in through their head or if in an emergency like in the book when Violet starting feeling weird and starting screaming and swinging her arms and legs, "... she was choking... broken... I was crying and saying to call an ambulance...I tried to do it on my feed..." (202). If there was to be an emergency, the feed would be an easier way to connect to the emergency people to come and help you.
The feed is described as knowing what you need before you do. This is what the feed is really doing. The corporation then can tell the manufactures what to make because the corporation already knows what they want. For example, they made Link, Quendy, Calista and all the other people already know what they want before they even know what they want. The corporation is putting them in a "catalog". They are making you want things you don't even want cause they already made you think that you want it. Yeah, like in the book, they are categorizing the people so, it would be easy to make things so they can buy them. The more things the people buy, the more money the corporation and manufacture gets. The feed, by doing this, they make a lot of money from "making" people. What I mean by "making", is that the corp. is making Link, Marty, Calista, and all the other people. Titus and his friends doesn't get the freedom to be whatever they want. They don't get to pick what they want and be who they want to be. They are like being 'brainwash' into wasting their money on things that are 'suppose' to be their type. But maybe it's not because the corp. is brainwashing them into wanting the item when they enter the store. They did this by having musics that draws people to the store and having celebrity model or advertise their clothing, even though it is ugly, people want it because it is 'in'.
Missing the feed for Titus is like he "carried his lungs in a suitcase and opened it to breathe". What I think Titus is saying is that he can't live without the feed. He's saying that the feed is like his lungs that he needs to have them everyday to survive. He needs the feed to live. It's like using the feed is like breathing. If he doesn't breathe he dies... if he doesn't have or use the feed he's going to die or not survive well with out the feed. The feed is like a part of his and their life. It's like when I don't get to use the computer at my house; Missing the Computer. It's not like if I don't get to use the computer or have a computer that I'm not going to live. I can live with out a computer, I'll just need to find another way to live my life. All I think Titus is saying is that he can't live without the feed; it's games, movies, music, chatting, and all the other great things that feed does.

They have enter a time of calamity... time of disaster. What this means is that the feed is going to destroy them some day. It is going to take over their body like how it has already taken over Violet's body. The feed is going to make them go crazy and do crazy things. It is going to take over the world. SAVE THE PEOPLE, SAVE THE WORLD! Everthing the people is going to use is going to come from the feed. The feed is going to be their everthing; their life.

FEED by: M.T. Anderson
Feed is starting to get good. First when I read it I was like, "I don't like this book. I only read the first few pages and it seemed stupid." Now it's getting to the good parts.

Prompt #1
What is it like on the moon? Why is it a popular destination for young people?
The moon in the book,"... full of old broken shit, like domes nobody's using anymore and wrappers and claws"(4). Titus the main character and narrator, said the moon gets boring after a while because he and his friends have been there so many times to think it is a cool place, but they are there for spring break...? On the moon there are hotels, clubs, and "fun" places. There are no gravity on the moon but there are some places on the moon that there are some earth gravity.
The moon is a popular destination for young people because I think it is a far enough place to get away from all the annoying people and places on earth. It is popular because they already know where most of the good places to go to have fun are and they are used to going to moon, like I am when I want to have fun. I will always say "We should go hang out at Vally Fair", but we all know that we have been there like a 'million' times but I don't know why we still want to go there to have fun. Maybe because we are used to the place and we know where are the rides, food, and game places are and also if we want to go to another new place someone would have to look up the place, the direction, where to meet at the place, and all these many complicated things to do when you can just go to a place you know where it is. So there's no point of going anywhere else.

Prompt #2
The girls have to change their hair frequently because the styles change. What does this statement tell us about trends in the novel?
This statement tells us that the people in the book always have to be on top of the newest and latest trends. It is because of the Feed. The Feed is transferring them all these different advertisement through their heads that they can't even think about any thing else. So, the girls are reeled in from those ads. Maybe the ads are 'suppose' to make them look 'pretty', so every time a new style come out they just have to get it. Having the newest and latest trends are also like the real people in reality. People in reality are reeled in by the media. They advertise things that we need and that's good but then they advertise things we want which is also good but it can cause big and bad things to happen. I can't really explain this but it happens. The media advertise things to make us want to buy more things and by buying more things, they get a lot of money from it. What it tells us about the trends in the book is that if they are not on top of the new things than they are not 'cool'. By getting the newest and latest trends, it makes them feel that they are included. They feel that they are in the trends with everyone else. If they are not in with the trends then people notice and say,"What's that she wearing? It looks so ugly...". For example in the book, Link, one of Titus's friend who is rich, and is "butt-ass ugly", was like, "What the hell's she wearing" (21). Wool was what that girl, Violet, was wearing. Link, I guess didn't even know what wool was. It is because wool wasn't 'in'. It is because the trends are different.
****I got this video from YOUTUBE.com. This video is of the 2009 look trends. In this video there are a whole bunch of models and their fashion designers/make-up artists. They are saying that this different shade of blue powder is best for this skin and looks better or this other type of make-up makes you look beautiful...

Prompt #3
Feed begins on a Friday, when out of boredom, a group of adolescents decide to spend Spring Break on the Moon at Ricochet Lounge. In what ways does this Spring Break compare with what you envision when you think of Spring Break (a major reason for going to the Moon was to go dancing)?
When I think of Spring Break, I think of the sun, hot, water, fun , outside, family and friends... But compare to Feed, the Moon is the best place to spend time on Spring Break. When I am on Spring Break, I'll be outside in the sun playing volleyball, football, basketball, going on picnic, and doing other fun things outside. In the book, Titus and his friends go to the Moon to go "dancing"...? Why would they go to the Moon to dance when they can do it on Earth and party with their families and friends. Titus and his friends' way of having fun on Spring Break sounded so boring. It didn't really sound all that great. They tried to get into a college party, which they didn't even get in. They tried to break in to a minibar to have fun. They don't even need those things to have fun. If they can think of good and fun things to do, then they won't even have to go through all that trouble trying to break a minibar and trying to look cool to get into a college party. I think of Spring Break on EARTH and NOT on the Moon. What they did on their Spring Break was doing some crazy things, like slamming into each other.
